Register of Members & Trustees

Register of Members

  1. The Register of Members must include the following:
    1. the name of the Member;
    2. a service address of the Member, which may be entered as “The principal office of the CIO”;
    3. the date the person was registered as a Member; and
    4. the date on which the person ceased to be a Member.
  2. As the charity has more than 50 Members, the Register must be kept “in such a form as to constitute in itself an index.” Our Register of Members is kept in alphabetical order by SURNAME, then by first name.
  3. Entries referring to former Members of the charity can be removed from the Register after 10 years has passed since that person’s membership ended.

Right of Access to the Register of Members

A Member or Trustee of the charity is entitled on request to inspect or to be provided with a copy of all or part of the register of Members without charge where:

    1. the request is made for the purpose of carrying out their duties as a Trustee or Member; or
    2. the request is to inspect or be provided with a copy of their entry in the Register.
  1. If a. or b. above do not apply a charge of £2 may be made to cover the costs of production.
  2. No other person is entitled to inspect or to be provided with a copy of the register unless the charity is in the process of winding up, when other rules apply.

Location of the Register of Members

A copy of the Register of Members is held in Reception at YMCA Plymouth in Honicknowle Lane.
